RESTORED COTTAGE, LONDON, UK

This transformation celebrates the seamless interplay between tradition and modernity, where the charm of a 1920s cottage outside of London meets the sophistication of contemporary design. With Ben’s deep-rooted connection to England’s architectural heritage, our approach was guided by an innate understanding of the home’s historic character—honoring its past while seamlessly integrating modern interventions that elevate both form and function.

The design process focused on preserving the integrity of the cottage while adapting it for modern family life. A sleek, single-story addition at the front introduces a private study, while a spacious games room at the rear provides a contemporary contrast to the original structure, demonstrating the evolution of the home’s story with thoughtful precision.

Internally, curated updates enhance both flow and functionality. A new dining room links the main house to the garage, featuring a folding glass wall that opens to the rear terrace, dissolving the boundary between indoors and out. Above the garage, a guest suite offers an elegant, private retreat—blending tradition with the comforts of modern living.

The result is a refined, elevated home that reflects Ben’s appreciation for timeless craftsmanship while embracing contemporary design principles. It stands as a testament to the beauty of old meeting new, where heritage and innovation exist in perfect harmony.
